On the
leading end of the Pole loosen
the bolt that is horizontal in the pole
and
remove the bolt that goes through the pole (vertically). 
Slide
the pole out to one of the preset lengths (holes are pre-drilled
through the pole) and replace the bolt through the pole, tighten
both bolts.
